About
You have started your journey to The House of Asterion to partake in mass and release your fears. You have come upon the entry and we now ask you to take the journey through the maze where a seat is waiting for you. For our doors are open to all. Our space is for those who ready. Release your fears and be redeemed.
We Welcome You To The House Of Asterion
Inside of this house you will find that there is not one garden, there is not one hallway, one library, one Nave, but an infinite number of hallways, libraries, and naves. This church exists everywhere and nowhere. It is found through long, narrow pathways only for those seeking it out. Every new mass a new book of fears is condemned to the house where another room is found, with its doors open and waiting for its prize.
Every new group that attends completes a cycle that births another new passageway deeper down the labyrinth. We share our experiences, new and profound, creating an offering to the ever-infinite library in hopes that one day it will be full and the burdens of the world are locked away deep inside leaving space only for hope, growth, and creativity. That is what we invite you be part of in the House of Asterion.
The house is open to all who wish to make the journey to confront and release your fears. Every night 20 make the pilgrimage to meet with Asterion and attend a ceremony. Not all who attend leave. But for those willing to walk the path of the house of Asterion, you shall be released of your fears and you shall be redeemed.
The House of Asterion is a site-specific and site-responsive piece inspired by the works of Jorge Luis Borges and RiNo’s No Vacancy resident visual art installations. The piece centers around a liturgical service in the great labyrinth of Babel. Audiences are invited to participate in a ceremony to relinquish their fears to the great library and be reborn into a world of hope and collective ambition. This project aims to explore and understand how to create a shared experience surrounding genuine reflection and ritualistic interactions.
About RiNo No Vacancy:
NO VACANCY 2023 is an artist residency program presented by RiNo Art District, in collaboration with EDENS and sponsored by Davis Partnership Architects. The goal is to convert an empty warehouse space in RiNo Art District, Denver into a group art installation and to support artists by providing them with funding and temporary physical space. In addition to the group installation, each artist will have their own area to create and do with as they please. It will be open to the public at various stages of the residency.
